Is 1.2MM PPSU sheet heat resistant?

1.2MM PPSU sheet (polyphenylsulfone) is a high-performance engineering thermoplastic with excellent heat resistance. It is widely used in applications that require long-term thermal stability, such as medical devices, electrical insulation components, food processing equipment, and industrial structural parts.

In terms of continuous service temperature, PPSU can typically operate at around 180°C while maintaining stable mechanical strength and dimensional integrity. This makes it significantly more heat-resistant than many common engineering plastics such as PC, ABS, or PMMA, which tend to deform or lose strength at much lower temperatures.

Another important advantage is its ability to withstand repeated high-temperature steam sterilization cycles, commonly at 121°C or 134°C. During these cycles, 1.2MM PPSU sheet maintains its structure without significant cracking, deformation, or embrittlement, making it a preferred material in medical and laboratory environments where sterilization is frequently required.

The heat resistance of PPSU is primarily due to its rigid aromatic backbone and sulfone group structure, which provide excellent thermal stability at the molecular level. This structure helps the material resist thermal deformation and maintain mechanical performance even under prolonged heat exposure.

In addition to heat resistance, PPSU also exhibits low moisture absorption and strong hydrolysis resistance. This ensures that its thermal and mechanical properties remain stable even in hot water or humid environments. As a result, it performs reliably in applications involving repeated cleaning, washing, or sterilization processes.

For thin-sheet applications such as 1.2MM thickness, thermal response is faster during processing, but the intrinsic heat resistance remains unchanged. Proper thermal design and processing control ensure that the sheet maintains its performance without warping or degradation during service.

Overall, 1.2MM PPSU sheet is considered a high-temperature resistant engineering plastic suitable for demanding thermal environments where both heat stability and long-term durability are required.
